Three Things To Consider When Buying Grass Seed

You may have been looking at a grass seed to put into your lawn but you have no idea what the difference is from one to another. Here are some basic things to ask about when thinking about buying grass seed:

Location
You’re going to need a different grass type if you’re living in New Mexico compared to Vermont. When you go into your local lawn and garden store, ask what kind of grass is appropriate for the area you’re living in. Chances are, being as how you’re already there, much of the grass that will grow in that area will probably already be stocked.

Foot traffic
Is your lawn going to be an art museum or a petting zoo? If you know that your lawn is going to get trampled on, you will want to grow a tougher grass. If you are just going to look at it, you have a lot of flexibility when choosing your seed.

Pricing
Obviously pricing is always a big part of your purchase decision but it is an especially an important one here. Frequently bargain grass seeds will give you unwanted weeds mixed in. Sometimes doing your research on grass blends and the amount of coverage seeds can provide will save you a lot of time and energy pulling weeds from your lawn. Consider spending a little extra on a brand that the lawn and garden store recommends because the old adage is usually right: you get what you pay for.
